Tagger

Improve communication with colleagues and business partners by injecting relevant information into design files. Open an assembly, part, or drawing, and see a list of tags used in that document in a dedicated tab in the task pane. Click on a term to highlight features in the design that are tagged with that term. Any feature can have any number of tags of any nature, easing search, retrieval, annotation and communication. Users can create favorite tags they can easily apply to any feature at any time.

64-bit version on Windows 7; not working
by: Aaron Larson on Monday, April 25 2011
I downloaded the 64bit version and was excited to try it out. Opened up the tagger pane and started adding some favorites. I went into an assembly to try it out and - TA DAAA!!! Didn't work. I couldn't apply any tags from the tagger pane.

Good idea, but low usability

I agree with the posts that tags should be more accessible.
However, I do not see how Tagger actually makes the tags more accessible. It may be that I've missed something here; would be glad for feedback in either case.

Here are some of my issues:
1. If I select a geometry or component, then go to Tagger | Add a new tag, write something and hit Enter, I would expect this tag to be attached to my selection. It doesn't. Only thing that happens is that the phrase is added to the list in Tagger. By activating the built-in tagger and selecting the same item, I can see that there is no tag there.
2. If I have added a tag using the built-in tagger, it doesn't show up in the list in Tagger.
3. Selecting a tag phrase in Tagger is supposed to highlight features with that tag. It doesn't.
4. There should be a way to select a geometry or component and then clicking/RMB on a tag phrase or a connected button in the Tagger list .

I am using Win7 x64 with SW2011SP2.

i am kind of disappointed that this tool does not offer a 64bit version yet. it is my understanding from talking with quite a few members of the solidworks community that 64bit is becoming the standard and yet there are products here that do not offer that version.

please, i am begging, get working on a 64bit version for this product.
Excellent! looks promising

will be great to pass on info and design intent.
Great Tool

But it would be much better, if it expands the feature tree of an assembly automatically if there's a tagged feature / part / subassembly in a lower level.
Productive Tagging within the TaskPane!
by: Lou Gallo on Sunday, February 8 2009
The key to getting documents "tagged" is to make it simple to do or NOBODY does it! This is a great step in the right direction. I did a podcast on it (http://solidworksheard.com/podcast/49-sw-labs/55-swh-ep188) talking about how this trend is big on the web with photos and other documents on the web so why not do it simply in SW! Nice work LABS!
Doesn't Work with 64-bit

Would love to try it but it is not compatable with solidworks 64 bit.
Tagging becomes productive!

This is a great way of making the tagging feature actually useful. I think the current application of tagging is a bit odd and utilizing the ease of the task pane for viewing and favorites is really great! Nice work!
Great idea! This is PLM by the people
by: Chris Williams on Saturday, December 13 2008
I discovered tagger by reading blog www.plmtwine.com. If you haven't read it you should. Oleg has some great bottom up ideas for designers. He also has some great dsicussions going with the guys a www.vuuch.com or at the vuuch blog at www.vuuch.com/wordpress. It looks like web 2.0 is certainly taking a foothold in design and PLM.

I'm off to download tagger so I can give it a try!

Has anyone thought about how to see these tags other than within a SW session?
Great tool for those who haven't used tags
by: Alex Ruiz on Friday, December 12 2008
Since tags were introduced in SW2008, I have not seen ANY user take advantage of adding tags to docs and features. I think that Tagger will make it easier for everybody to use tags.
